My devious mind thought up all kinds of ideas to write about this topic but finally and considering the sensibilities of my readers, I decided to play it safe and seek the pardon of Will Knot who came up with this topic, but who unfortunately is tied up elsewhere and does not participate any more. I bet that if he was to return to writing on LBC every Friday, he will write about other undone things.

One of the problems that regular walkers and joggers face is the shoe laces coming undone which can cause one to trip and fall. It has happened to me and I went looking for solutions till I found these two clips which I would like to share with my readers as part of my contribution to the weekly Loose Bloggers Consortium where five of us write on the same topic. The four other bloggers who write regularly are, in alphabetical order, Ashok gaelikaa, Maxi, and Shackman. Do drop in on their blogs and see what their take is on this week’s topic. Since some of them may post late, do give some allowance for that too!

And another simpler and as effective a method.

Knowing that some of my readers will shoot me if I do not come up with something more profound here are two more pictures.
If we sleep on flowers, it’s called our first night.”

“If flowers sleep on us, it’s called our last night.”

That is a whole life undone.

I avoid laces where possible by wearing this type ofย sketcher trainers, but for my hiking boots I use Curly laces

You have excelled yourself, Ramana. Let’s paraphrase that: You have undone yourself.

Where is my bouquet of flowers?

  3. Andy has never had problems with shoe laces coming undone since he was in grammar school One fellow used to go around untying everyone’s laces, so Andy started double-knotting them and never stopped.

I love the joke at the end. ๐Ÿ˜€

So let me get this right . If you don’t tie your shoe laces properly , you could end up with flowers sleeping over you , even before you sleep on flowers . In other words you could come unstuck before you get stuck – and that is Undone . Very profound ! Enjoyed that !

  5. Simple solution – don’t run. There are other ways to stay healthy. – like playing racquetball til you drop.

I almost started my response to your post this morning by exclaiming “Holy cow!” and then it hit me almost immediately that the term could very well be offensive to a Hindu if used in an irreverent context. Take a moment to enlighten me on that subject if you will. I’m sure you are well aware it is a term used often here in the US.

Now the reason for such a joyous outcry was because I have a terrible time keeping my athletic shoes tied. You have no idea how bad I needed this tutorial on tying those athletic shoe laces so thanks a bunch for the video. I immediately retied my shoes to the new configuration and now…. we will see if it works for the elderly. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • You are one of life’s fortunate ones. MIne used to all the time till I started the reverse loop system of knotting. And no, I shan’t be taking off the beard any time soon.

  8. Huh. I am going to try both those – one on each sneaker, and see if it helps.

Indians are the only people I know who sleep on flowers on their first night. If they sleep at all, that is. But as most Hindus (with the exception of some south Indian sects like Lingayats) get cremated, the flowers aren’t usually sleeping on them. Their ashes are floating in the Ganga or some other holy river. If you sleep on flowers, the chances are the flowers aren’t going to be sleeping on you. Besides, people don’t get buried before they die. It takes the flowers a while to grow. So the flowers won’t be sleeping on you until well after your last night. Now who dreamed up that piece of wisdom.

It’s not tripping over laces that are my undoing but tripping anyway…I have a couple of problems with my skeletal foot – too short and wonky ankles.

However, I do have my shoelaces in a locking sort of system that the shoe guy at Shoe Science showed me how to stop them becoming loose…

  11. Vignesh says:

Learn the reverse knot when I start running 3 years back. Never have the problem again. Miss the excuse to stop and catch my breath, though ๐Ÿ˜‰
    “….Oh, it’ll take a little time,
    Might take a little crime
    To come undone now
    We’ll try to stay blind
To the hope and fear outside
Hey child, stay wilder than the wind
    And blow me into cry
Who do you need, who do you love
    When you come undone?
Who do you need, who do you love
    When you come undone?….”
