Vaccination.

This photograph was taken this morning at our local ward Municipal Hospital where I got vaccinated against Covid 19. The template contains messages in Marathi, our local language, to the effect that I have got myself vaccinated and am safe from Covid 19; and so should you get vaccinated  and  become safe.

It is expected that such photographs will spread through social media and persuade sceptics into taking the vaccination.

Including twenty minutes of driving time to and from the hospital the total time taken between leaving my home and returning was 90 minutes.  That also included 30 minutes of post jab observation and a follow up speech by the attending doctor.

I have been vaccinated with Covishield manufactured locally at Pune.  I have to take a booster shot after six and before eight weeks again.  The second shot however will be at a different hospital where the registration process need not be followed and one can simply walk in and get the shot.

I was most impressed with the efficiency and enthusiasm of the staff.  Totally unexpected from a government run organisation.

Bad Luck Or And Karma.

Stated simply it is “Action resulting in Reaction.” I have been brainwashed from childhood that Karmaphala is inevitable and if I have to save myself from future troubles, I should do only good things and avoid doing bad things. This instilled belief has been reinforces by practical observation in my life as all positive and negative developments in my life that could not be explained through logic simply proved it and continue to prove it. There is simply no other explanation.

There is often the misunderstanding that Karma is applicable only to individuals. My study of the theory of karma teaches that there can be collective karma too and this too has been proved by observation throughout my life and continues to do so. Let us simply take the current pandemic. Why some got and others did not? Why some not taking precautions do not get it whereas despite taking all possible precautions, others do?

Instead of reinventing the wheel, let me simply request my readers to go through this wonderful handling of Karma.

And an interesting clip that I received as synchronicity just before I finished writing this post:

The Vaccination Drama.

First it was the race to find the vaccine. Cartoonist Shadi Ghanim’s take on the race to find a vaccine for Covid-19:

In India, Serum Institute won the race closely followed by Bharat Biotech leaving five other companies behind but, still in the reckoning.

Indian vaccines started going out to various countries who needed it fast, gaining considerable goodwill.

In the meanwhile, Indian citizens over the age of sixty years and 45+ with comorbidities started receiving the vaccine driven by variuos state governments.

Now, the drama started. The social media took over to announce being vaccinated and reports of either no or some side effects. A streamlined online registration process was set up and as I write this, seems to be working very efficiently. I registered last week for being vaccinated at a particular hospital where my GP wanted me to go to, and I have been asked to report on March 30, 2021 to get vaccinated. Others who have already got vaccinated are goading me to just walk in into any nearby hospital and get it done but, I have decided to wait till my appointment comes up.

In the meanwhile, social media has become super active with reports of side effects, efficacy, what can one expect post vaccination etc and the drama continues. From all these, one gathers that despite the vaccination one has to follow the pre vaccination protocols for some more time for the vaccine to take proper effect and this has caused many groans and protests.

I enjoy being on the sidelines and observing the drama.

Air Conditioning.

It is not hot enough yet for me to start using the air conditioner but, I found this following message doing the rounds in WhatsApp and thought it appropriate to share with my readers.

*Put AC at 26+ degrees and put the Fan on at slow speed.*

Very useful information sent by an Executive Engineer from The Electricity Board:

Correct use of AC:

As hot summer has started and we use Air conditioners regularly, let us follow the correct method.

Most people have a habit of running their ACs at 20-22 degrees and when they feel cold, they cover their bodies with blankets. This leads to double loss. HOW ???

Do you know that the temperature of our body is 35 degrees Celsius? The body can tolerate temperature ranging from 24 degrees to 39 degrees easily. It is called human body temperature tolerance.

When the Room temperature is lower or higher, the body reacts, by sneezing, shivering, etc.

When you run the AC at 19-20-21 degrees, room temperature is much lower than the normal body temperature and it starts the process called hypothermia in the body which affects blood circulation, whereby, blood supply in some parts of the body is not adequate. There are many disadvantages in long term such as arthritis etc.

Most of the time there is no sweating when AC is ON, so the toxins of the body can not come out and in the long term, cause risk of many more diseases, such as skin allergy or itching, high blood pressure etc.

When you run AC at such low temperatures, its compressor continuously works on full energy, even if it is 5 stars, excessive power is consumed & it blows money from your pocket.

What is the best way to run AC ??  Set up Temperatures for 26-28 Degrees.
You don’t get any benefit by first setting Temperature of AC to 20 – 21 and then wrap the sheet/ thin Quilt around you.

It is always better to run AC at 26+ degrees and put the fan on at slow speed.

This will consume less electricity and your body temperature will also be in the range and there will be no ill effect on your health.

Another advantage of this is that the AC will consume less electricity, the blood pressure on the brain will also decrease and Saving will ultimately help reduce the effects of global warming. How ?? Suppose you save about 5 units per AC per night by running AC on 26-28 Degree and other 10 lakh houses also do like you then we save 5 million units of electricity per day.

At the regional level this savings can be crores of units per day.

Please consider the above and do not run your AC at all below 26-28 degrees. Keep your body and environment healthy.
