This topic was suggested by Maria the gaelikaa, for the weekly Friday Loose Bloggers Consortium where currently nine of us write on the same topic every Friday.
Maria is a mother of four school going children and I dedicate this post’s video clip to her for coming up with this topic.
I hope that you enjoyed my contribution to that effort. The seven other bloggers who write regularly are, in alphabetical order, Ashok, gaelikaa, Lin, Maxi, Padmum, Pravin, Shackman and The Old Fossil. Do drop in on their blogs and see what their take is on this week’s topic. Since some of them may post late, or not at all this week, do give some allowance for that too!
Clever.

Thank you. I have just provoked Maria into reading my blog post too!
Your video was like an out-of-body experience … felt like I was a kid again. Thanks.

When I hit on this idea, I debated with myself as to whether to post it or not at all but since I could not come up with anything more stimulating, let it ride and shared it.
There are about 150 prepositions in the English language. How can a foreigner (or even Americans) get close to knowing these. I had a thick book ON prepositions but got rid OF it.
My very strict English teacher required us to memorize the prepositions. I believe there were 42, although I may be failing to recall the correct number as well as failing to recall many of the prepositions nearly 70 decades after being forced to learn to spout them on demand.

Oops. 7 decades, not 70, of course.

I had a good laugh anyway!
English learnt rather than picked up makes all the difference when we grow up! I too had a Martinet for an English teacher who used to tell us to use them or lose them.
My English teacher used to say – Use them or lose them!
oh how cute.
i like larry.
certainly different from dick and jane and spot! LOLOL.
that’s all we had. “look dick! see jane go! go jane! go spot!” LOL.
but i did so love dick and jane. 🙂

I think that all of us have a little boy or girl just below the surface waiting for moments like these to emerge and have a bit of fun now and then!
I would rather just chatter than worry whether my verbs, nouns, prepositions were correct or whatever….
Whatever indeed!
Just as well my eldest doesn’t read blogs, Ramana. He’s a 20 year old university student in his 2nd year of BSc and would take huge exception to being referred to as a schoolgoing kid. Sorry I didn’t blog along this week, my life’s a bit upside down these days.
My apologies Maria. You know how it is with oldies, for us they never grow up!
