My readers will know about the chaos that my home has been experiencing with the remodeling going on. There has been a lull as we have temporarily stopped the work, essentially to be done to the exterior and to fabricate outside the home, to enable Ranjan and Manjiree to attend a wedding of a relative.
That has not stopped me from getting some other minor things done like fabricating a console to lodge our inverter as the old console is just about to give up its ghost and I cannot have it lodged in its new location below the staircase in that condition. I got a carpenter who has been doing odd jobs for us to come and fabricate a new wooden one and having procured the wood and other material he came over this morning and fabricated the console in three hours flat. It was a pleasure watching a true blue professional at work and the way he went about it was simply amazing. The Indian artisan is simply awesome!
I wanted the console painted and so on the recommendation of the carpenter, located one painter who came, surveyed what needs to be done and has gone away to bring his brush etc, tomorrow to paint the console. He too appears to be quite competent and I am sure that I will get as much pleasure seeing him in action tomorrow. Once the painting job is done and the console is dry, Ranjan’s colleague Rahul has volunteered to shift the inverter and battery unit to the new console and place it in its new location. All going well that should happen by late afternoon tomorrow.
While the painting work is going on, Rahul and I will start the process of culling my library. That should take a few hours and I am really not looking forward to it. It is always an unpleasant job deciding on discarding something that had given pleasure in its time!
That will then give me something else to worry about, getting rid of the old and decrepit console! Some solution would appear and my old fall back solution of recycling through my good friend Mahadev is always available!
It doesn’t rain, it pours!
I imagine you will be relieved when everything is done, but I envy you your access to competent artisans. They are hard to find around here.
I, too, and culling through my books. I have a pile to take to Friends of the Library. It’s a lot easier to give them away when I know other people will enjoy them.

Yes, I will be. I wish you all the very best with your culling exercise.
It seldom stops raining here! 😛 Good luck with the book gifting.

I have written a new post exclusively on inverters with a photograph as well. Ah, the less said the better about out of the ordinary things!
“It doesn’t rain, it pours!” – and I thought that only applied here in California.

It can be here too in the monsoons.
what exactly is an inverter? Sounds intriguing but probably it is just something that is a regular gadget in your world…
I have written a new post exclusively on inverters with a photograph as well.
There is a lot of work going on at your place, Rummy. No doubt it will look wonderful when all is done. Still, I don’t envy you about the books.

I will eventually write a “Phew!” post Maxi.
I will have to look up the meaning of inverter.
but this is all so exciting!
and won’t they be surprised upon their return that you took care of all that.
I too recently went through my own library. giving books that I hadn’t read in years. I know which ones I enjoy re reading. those will never go.
but now there is at least room! if I choose to buy something new to enjoy.
ever onward rummy!
I have written a new post exclusively on inverters with a photograph as well.
Ever onward indeed! Thanks.
I once worked for a most wonderful woman. In a male dominated industry. Between her sky high stilettos and trying to establish her new found company she’d occasionally say :”Ursula, it never pours, it just rains.”
