Reading about the Plymouth (UK) shootings in The Guardian, I came across this new word.
That article led me to another new term The Black Pill Mentality. That in turn led me to Blue Pill and Red Pill mentalities and I suspect that as we “progress” as human beings perhaps more such terms will be invented to explain aberrant behaviour by social misfits.
Reductionism in psychology going bonkers I guess.
We had an incel in Toronto who killed 10 people in his van, deliberately mounting a sidewalk so I am very familiar with the term and the rageful “entitlement” to sex by these men.

The underbelly of this world is horrifying.

Our morons do not receive such coverage over here and that is how I did not know this definition. I am sure that there must be many incels over here but, they have not yet hit enough to attract attention.
As www says, those who call themselves incels can turn very violent. From Wikipedia: “At least eight mass murders, resulting in a total of 61 deaths, have been committed since 2014 by men who have either self-identified as incels or who had mentioned incel-related names and writings in their private writings or Internet postings.” Some men are very sick indeed, and not getting the attention they need from overwhelmed mental health services.
Sad state of affairs all over. We have enough of cases here but, they do not get the psychiatric attention that the Western media provides.
Hey Rummy,
Incel: wow. I wonder if this word was concocted during the Covid-Lockdown? Humans are very creative, I give them that.
Things in the UK are a bit bonkers, a lot of violence. So I am back to Portugal.
I hope all is well with you and I’m looking forward to reading more of your wisdom 😉
Cheers

Hi Max. Nice to have you back in the blog world. All is very well with me indeed. Thank you.
I saw the Matrix and still had to look up blue and red pills. This is a strange and unsettled world…
That Kaitlin, I think is an understatement.
Max says .”Things in the UK are a bit bonkers” .. “a bit” ? .. It saddens me to say that I’m leaning towards “almost completely” ! and I hesitate to use the word “almost”.

For obvious reasons, I refrain from commenting John but, assure you that, we are no less bonkers here.
I guess I must live under a rock! or in a cocoon.
I have never heard of Any of these things.
I’ll have to look up the blue and red pills. ???
and as to the other… I just don’t know.
I don’t know if my life is better ‘knowing’ all the awful things in this world now or not.
if all the supposed Mental Illness keeps running wild… (as in the idiot that started Many of the California Fires… a very well educated college professor!)
what is to become of regular people who simply want to live a quiet happy life?
Welcome to the club of members under a rock or in a cocoon. I had not either. Regular people over the next few decades will become nuts enough to make that state normal I suppose.
I thought I had read that article but appears not. It reads like a “cult” and we all know what can happen under that scenario and it did in this case. I don’t want to know, as such – but then knowing is always good if the bad stuff somehow comes under your radar. Covid certainly has opened our minds to a whole lot of unknowns, both within our own society or more worldwide. And for the “press” bad news is always profit driven.

Knowing helps us in using the correct terms for some of the new phenomenon that is now apparently quite common to the younger people.
It’s hard to keep up with all the new terminology. I wasn’t familiar with these latest words you’ve introduced with their meanings. The whole world seems to have gone mad. The uncertainties of life now seems to have unleashed the worst amongst us, especially as leaders we’d expect to respect model, and are not held accountable for reprehensible behaviors in a time when a sense of sane stability is needed by so many.
If there is one positive outcome of this pandemic it is what you point out as the poor leadership. The entire world has seen this and yes, all leadership has been shown to be wanting.
