This post is inspired by a comment left by Conrad in my blog post Letter To Santa Claus that ended with “And you have shown me we are truly a bunch of nuts!”
Another friend had posted this message on his Facebook page.
I responded with this comment:
“The whole lot on the tree.”
What would your response be?
I’ve shaken that tree a lot with my family history research and have found, amongst some ‘dodgy characters’, an official ‘nut’ in the ‘Non-PC’ world of the 19th century census. In 1861 one of my ancestors is described as an “idiot”, and in 1871 as an “imbecile”… 🙁
Very possibly a greater proportion of the later generations would be even more potty. But these days we call a spade a garden instrument.
Just shows that no matter where you live, all of us have the same issues to live with!
the tree has probably already died, but the nuts have just hang there, waiting for the axe. Even though without the tree and its roots it’s not possible for nuts to be mid air!

You are unique Catherine. What comments! More hidden there than what appears at first glance.
This reminds me of an old Reader’s Digest snippet:
An agitated woman calls the fire brigade: “Help, there is a squirrel in my bedroom”
A bright spark in the background advises: “Tell her to go out and act like a nut”
I miss reading the RD. I stopped my subscription because their customer service simply sucks.
