4. we once went to a seaside resort on the atlantic coast of spain which had a british comedian- with trumpet, no less- who told old vaudeville variety style jokes so old they crackeled when he unpacked them, and then translated them himself into several languages with the help of the audience “so there was this turkey…what’s a turkey in french–you know, gobble gobble, what’s gobble gobble in french.” The man was a real master at his trade, and we’ve never had such a great time as with him. talent plus ridiculous is sublime.
