The Rough And The Smooth.

It is fitting that this landmark post is published as part of our Loose Bloggers’ Consortium exercise where a group of bloggers write on the same topic every Friday. This is one activity, or shall we say, discipline has been part of the motivation that has kept me blogging regularly, others being some very inspiring bloggers and commentators who comment here regularly.

This is my 2000th blog post.

pastor

A pastor had a wife and 12 children and needed to move as his rental agreement was coming to an end for the home where he lived.  He was having difficulty in finding a new home. When he said he had 12 children, no one would rent a home to him because they knew that the children would destroy the home. He could not say that he had no children, he could not lie. After all, pastors cannot and do not lie. So he gave up looking for a large home and moved into the small rectory that the church provided him.

Life is rough, for honest pastors.

lawyer

A lawyer had a wife and 12 children and needed to move as his rental agreement was coming to an end for the home where he lived. He was having difficulty in finding a new home. When he said he had 12 children, no one would rent a home to him because they knew that the children would destroy the home. He could not say that he had no children. He could not lie, after all, lawyers cannot and do not lie! So, he had an idea. He sent his wife for a walk to the cemetery with 11 children. He took the remaining one with him to see homes with the Real Estate Agent. He liked one of the homes and the agent asked : “How many children do you have ?” He answered : “12 children”. The agent asked “Where are the others? The lawyer answered, with a sad look, “They are in the cemetery with their mother”. And that’s the way he was able to rent a home for his family without lying.

MORAL : It is not necessary to lie, one only has to choose the right words. Lawyers don’t lie… they are creative… They are smooth.

This topic was suggested by Maria the gaelikaa, for the weekly Friday Loose Bloggers Consortium where currently eight of us write on the same topic every Friday.  I hope that you enjoyed my contribution to that effort.  The seven other bloggers who write regularly are, in alphabetical order,  AshokgaelikaaLin, Maxi, PadmumShackman and The Old Fossil. Do drop in on their blogs and see what their take is on this week’s topic. Since some of them may post late, or not at all this week, do give some allowance for that too!
