I went to see this film because it had Liam Neeson in it. And I was not disappointed with his performance but came away with the feeling that he was wasted in a film in the action genre. His acting talents are not on show as there is little scope for him to show them. But he does a great job of portraying a avenging husband and protective father.
I did not know that there were Taken 3 and Taken before this. I doubt very much that they were shown in India, unless they were during the time when I was preoccupied with my other major occupation earlier in this century. After seeing this I wanted to know about its earlier stories and find that only Taken 2 is available on DVD. I will watch it after I go through my backlog!
“It Ends Here” is the tagline for the posters for the film. The concluding scenes clearly indicate that there will be a sequel!
Suffice it to say that I enjoyed the film, but because it is an action based one using once again the modern villain, the Russian Mafia, I cannot bring myself to give more than[rating=4] rating despite the great performance by Liam Neeson.
It doesn’t sound like my cup of tea, but thanks for the review. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen Neeson in a film.

No? Schindler’s List?
I read the book, and I went to a lecture given by the author once, but I never saw the movie.

Liam Neeson is the hottest action star currently and all 3 Taken films have been very successful. Neeson has embraced his inner “bada$$” and if you believe his interviews he is enjoying his success all the way to the bank and good for him. I’ve been a fan since he was in a Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry film called the Dead Pool back in 1988. Any popcorn movie with him in it is worth a watch and a bag of popcorn IMHO.

I readily endorse your HO. I will see him in all action films henceforth.
Although I have not watched any of the three films in the series, I am sure at some point I will. Ever since his leading role in “Shindler’s List” he has been a favorite of mine.
One of the reasons I think I have put off watching these particular films is because I have always assumed they would be somewhat similar to the Charles Bronson film series of “Death Wish” which I truly enjoyed.
Alan, now you have got me off on a tangent with the Charles Bronson series!
I concur with your assessment and the reasons for docking it one star. I haven’t seen Taken 3, but your review could fit 1 and 2, as well. They appeal to us as parents; Liam Neeson’s acting is always good, even in a somewhat cliche role; the action and special effects are good enough to carry an adrenaline rush. It’s not GREAT drama, but it’s very good entertainment.

Yes, that is an apt description. Very good entertainment.
have not seen any of these.
i guess it’s a way for him to make money.
my favorite movie of his is a wonderful montage of sorts called
“love actually.” a fabulous movie. and he’s great in it.
i wish he would do more roles like that. he’s wasted in these blowem’upshootem’up films.
i admire the way he’s handled his life and his fatherhood after his wife’s tragic death. the man has integrity. and a beautiful voice.

Love actually is a beautiful film indeed Tammy. How so many disparate characters all come together is a very well handled theme in that.
Didn’t know Taken 3 was released. Have seen Taken and Taken2. I would say, Taken2 is a waste of time. But, Taken is really good. I can watch it many times and not get bored of it.
Loved Liam’s acting as well as his action in Taken.
While Taken 2 is available on DVD and I intend buying it if I cannot borrow it, Taken is not available at all.
