Welcome to the Friday Loose Bloggers Consortium where twelve of us write on the same topic. Today’s topic has been chosen by Magpie11. The eleven other bloggers who write regularly are, in alphabetical order, Conrad, Delirious, gaelikaa, Grannymar, Magpie, Maria SF, ocdwriter, Padmum, Paul, Rohit and Will. Do drop in on their blogs and see what their take is on this week’s topic. Since some of them may post late, do give some allowance for that too!
I knew four.
One, P was and still is the sister of a dear friend of mine. She quit her job to get married and became a mother and from what I learn, is about to become a mother in law soon.
Another one was M. She became the sole care taker for her widowed mother when the latter became depressed after becoming a widow. She requested for transfer to a ground job and her requested was acceded to by her employers. She provided great care for her mother who slipped into dementia and eventually passed away. M adopted her servant maid’s daughter and educated her. That girl today is appearing for the entrance tests for the Indian Administrative Service.
The third has been fighting a law suit against her employers for forcing her into retirement in middle age. The case is meandering its way around the Indian judicial system and in the meanwhile, she has moved into a live in relationship with a, in my opinion, loser. Till final outcome of her case, she cannot get married so as to not prejudice her case on a technicality.
The last, became a mistress of a big shot businessman from the South of India, quit her job and when she found that as promised, her beau did not divorce his first wife to marry her, committed suicide.
I know/knew the first two fairly closely and the other two just casually.
There is another young bird S, who is determined to become one in the sky and I have been trying to dissuade her from becoming one. Young people don’t take kindly to old owls on the ground.
