India is going through one of its panic attack periods. The flu epidemic is being blown out of all proportion and there is hysteria everywhere.
Humour however flourishes in such an atmosphere and the first off the mark is an SMS joke doing the rounds.
“The American Embassy has released an announcement advising all Patels, Guptas etc not to apply for H1N1 visas as that type of visa does not exist.”
My friend Anil, (remember the man with that garden in Italy?) has sent this wonderful reminder that crisis brings out the best in humour.
I had my share of repartee too. A friend of mine called up from a safe town and asked whether I had been affected. I replied to the contrary and asked him not to worry. The virus affects human beings, not swine!
